| DescripcionEN: | [Published in spanish] Although we have assumed its independence, in Chile's history, there have been slight exchanges between the processes of urban-regional planning and administrative decentralization. Institutions, reforms, and even changes in the structure and nature of governments, have been relevant actors in the two-fold narrative that has shaped the political-territorial organization of the country. This book analyzes the development of these processes between 1925 and 2014, placing special emphasis on how they have -or have not- been related. From a historical and legislative point of view, milestones such as the Organic Constitutional Law of Municipalities and the Organic Constitutional Law of Regional Government and Administration -along with other instruments- show how the autonomy of local governments is promoted and constrained by the central administration, drawing the complex and changing plot that shaped the current Chile -and that gives signals about its future-. 'Un siglo de planificación urbano-regional en Chile' ['A century of urban-regional planning in Chile'] is the third book of the Serie Doctorado, published in alliance with the FADEU UC Doctoral Program in Architecture and Urban Studies. |
